Walt Disney World’s interactive adventures are some of my favorite activities in the parks. Games like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure are wildly entertaining and completely unique ways to explore and experience Walt Disney World. For a limited time, Disney has brought back PinQuest (which originally appeared at the Magic Kingdom in 2016). This time, the scavenger hunt takes place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. What Is It?
PinQuest turns you into a treasure hunter, exploring the park using a variety of clues and tools. Each clue requires you to solve a special task. Complete the task and you’ll get a pin, which helps you find the next clue location. You find the next location by placing your new pin underneath the decoder medal, which directs you to your next stop. Collect all 6 pins, and you’ll be able to acquire a final, seventh pin for completing the entire quest.
2. What Does It Cost?
There are multiple costs associated with the quest. You start the adventure by purchasing a PinQuest Adventure kit, which consists of a lanyard, map, storage pouch, and a NavigatEAR decoder medal. The cost of the kit is $14.99. You also pay $9.99 for each clue (which includes the pin you get for solving the clue). The completer pin costs $4.99. The total cost comes to around $80 (before tax).
3. What Pins Do You Earn?
Pins include Russell from Up, Baloo from The Jungle Book, a banshee from Avatar, Pluto, the yeti from Expedition Everest, and Simba from The Lion King. The final pin is called the QuestEar completer pin and features Mickey Mouse.
4. What Locations Are Participating?
PinQuest pins and clues can be found at the Outpost Shop, Mombasa Marketplace, Windtraders, Serka Zong Bazaar, Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and the Discovery Trading Company.
5. How Long Does It Last?
This is a limited time activity. It began on October 18, 2018, but Disney provided no specific word on when it will end. The pins are a limited run, and are only available for as long as PinQuest lasts.
