JEREMY Meeks, the guy whose mugshot sent hearts fluttering on the internet, has been sentenced to two years in prison, CBS reports. Meeks became known as hot mugshot guy, after his image went viral on the internet when it was posted by the California Police Department and spawned dozens of memes.

The image has garnered 101,944 likes, 12,836 shares and 26,695 comments on Facebook.

CBS reports that Meeks was convicted in federal court of one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The judge sentenced him to 27 months in prison and 500 hours in the Bureau of Prisons Substance Abuse Treatment Program.

Meeks was also ordered by the judge to pay a $US100 fine, but was found to not have the ability to do so.

He was reportedly signed to a Santa Monica-based agency but it looks like the only photo he will be posing for is his next mugshot in federal prison.
