How excited are you about your new tour?
Extremely excited! I enjoyed myself and the UK so much back in October with my acoustic tour that I knew I had to get back early in 2017! Having put together such a great lineup for our shows with The Rising and Gary Quinn. I can’t wait to get to each city, hit the stage each night and have a big ole party with all the great UK country music fans!
What can fans expect from the new live shows?
Big sound, a lot of energy, a lot of fun and yes there will be some drinkin’ going on! This is what I love most about what I do. Getting to travel to different cities, go on stage with the band playing my songs live and having a party with the fans! There really isn’t anything like it and I can’t wait to get the tour started!
What is your tour set list looking like at the moment?
My set is all my originals off my debut CD, my new EP and a couple of my favourite songs I’ve written that I like to play out live.
Will you be performing any covers?
There are no covers planned but with any live show that can always change pretty quick with a request or two from the fans.
Which city are you most looking forward to visiting?
Well I was able to see Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and London on my acoustic tour last October, which I’m very happy to be going back to this time round. So I do have four new cities to check out in Oxford, Winchester, Leeds and Glasgow to round out our 8 dates. Glasgow is definitely one I’ve heard a lot about from other UK artists, so that’s high on my one to check out list. Leeds I’ve been told, is a pretty happening place with great fans, so that is definitely one of the new stops I’m looking forward too as well.
What is your most and least favourite thing about touring?
I love being on the road travelling to new cities or countries, trying new foods and getting to meet new people, especially all the fans that come out to the shows. My least favourite thing would be living out of a suitcase. Don’t know if this is the same for many guys but I like have my clothes hung neatly and things folded neatly away in my dresser. Not a fan of pulling things out and jamming things back into a suitcase daily.
Who are your favourite country acts at the moment?
Darius Rucker is always gonna be the first name out of my mouth. As I’ve said many times in many interviews, he so good and is one cool guy to boot! Been a huge fan of his since The Hootie & The Blowfish days and still am, if not more now that he’s doing what he’s doing in country. Really enjoying what Thomas Rhett is putting out. And Little Big Town just keeps blowing me away with their great music and amazing harmonies! Keepin’ it UK, I’ve really enjoyed getting to hear and find out more about The Shires. Really great music coming from those two.
If you could collaborate with any artist from any genre who would you choose?
I really can’t pick just one but if I narrowed it down to three for now it would be Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Ed Sheeran or Keith Urban! There are so many more but these three just put out hit after hit and I’m sure they’d be a blast to write with too!
How do you think the UK are now embracing the country genre?
The UK country scene was definitely more different when I first came over back in 2010 but its starting to look and feel pretty similar to the US now. There are so many talented singer/songwriters in the UK in the country genre now. Add in all the Nashville artists like myself, that want to come to the UK to perform and support our music with our fans. It’s easy to see why the genre has grown and is growing in its popularity with the UK country music fans.
What do you hope to achieve in the next ten years?
I hope to have built a very successful international country music career. To have continuously put out really good music for my fans to enjoy. I created my own independent music label, Hit Maker Entertainment, to launch and support my music career a year ago. I hope to grow it bigger and have three or four more talented artists signed to it and doing great with their careers as well. I want to go back to the old ways of doing things, getting out and touring as much as possible every year. Going to as many countries and cities around the world, getting up close and personal with all my existing fans and new fans of course. I would hope that in ten years I can look back and see all the touring, playing live, visiting new countries and getting to meet everyone, allowed me to be that successful country music artist I’m hoping to be.
