Ethan was born in Lexington, Massachusetts, to Ashkenazi Jewish parents Aaron and Rochelle Zohn.

He is married to interior designer Lisa Heywood.

Ethan’s maternal grandfather was named Louis Frolich.

Ethan’s maternal grandmother was Libby/Lieba Golda Porcelan (the daughter of Chaim Hyman Porcelan and Rivka Regina Rosenbluth). Libby’s parents were born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Chaim was the son of Shlomo Yehoshua Porcelan and Fradel. Rivka was the daughter of Binyamin Rosenbluth and Lieba Golda.
